Restorative Reproductive Medicine Clinician Training

The training is intended primarily for licensed clinicians involved in patient care. Because the certificate, diploma, and fellowship pathways are clinical in nature and may include prescribing-related competencies, these pathways generally require a medical or relevant clinical background. Other health professionals are welcome to apply and take individual or core courses as stand-alone professional development, with a certificate of completion awarded where applicable.

Residents can begin the program part time alongside their residency training.

Clinicians, medical residents, students, or other health professionals considering individual courses or audit options, and clinics or health authorities interested in postgraduate restorative reproductive medicine training are encouraged to register their interest. This allows us to share updates about course availability, pathway options, team training, and clinical placement or audit opportunities.

The time commitment depends on the pathway selected. Training may include formal coursework, method-based training, clinical experience, mentoring, case review, and, where applicable, in-person or virtual clinical training options.

• Basic Certificate: 24 course credits.
• Advanced Clinical Certificate: 24 course credits plus 3 months of clinical experience, which is ideally in person but may include virtual options. Total training is approximately 1,200 hours, including 620 hours of formal education, a minimum of 70 hours of method-based training, and 480 hours of clinical time.
• Diploma: 36 course credits.
• Advanced Clinical Diploma: 36 course credits plus 6 months of clinical experience or mentorship, with approximately 2,000 hours of training.
• Fellowship: 48 course credits plus 12 months of clinical experience or mentorship, with approximately 3,000 hours of training and completion of a board exam. Fellows may also have the option to add a research year or surgical year.

Experienced providers may be able to substitute virtual mentoring and case reviews for formal clinical rotations. All participants are required to take the ultrasound course.

The Basic Certificate is self-paced and can generally be completed over 2 years, with flexibility to adjust your schedule if you prefer to finish sooner or need a bit longer. Participants may choose a lighter or heavier course load depending on their clinical responsibilities and availability.

Yes. The clinical experience, whether completed in person or partly through virtual options, may be completed either concurrently with coursework or after coursework has been completed. Timing may depend on your clinical experience, schedule, and the availability of appropriate supervisors or mentoring opportunities in your area (for in person).

The method-based training component must be completed before beginning the clinical experience, unless you have already completed prior training in a fertility awareness-based method (FABM).

Yes. Participants choose the number of courses they take each semester based on their schedule, clinical responsibilities, and preferred pace of study. For example, you may choose to take one course in the fall and three courses in the spring, or adjust your course load in another way that works for you.

Most coursework can be completed at your own pace. Live lectures are also recorded so students can review the material if they are unable to attend live or would like to revisit the content later. A discussion and support area is also available in the course portal to interact with faculty or other students.

Telehealth and virtual options may be available for some components of the clinical experience, although some in-person experience is recommended where possible. The exact training plan may depend on the participant’s location, clinical background, and available supervisors or mentoring options.

Experienced providers may be able to substitute formal clinical rotations with virtual mentoring and case reviews. Participants without local RRM providers are encouraged to register their interest so that appropriate clinical training, mentoring, and telehealth options can be explored.

Yes. There are many pathways, from individual courses to a full fellowship, and experienced providers may not need the same training plan as those newer to RRM.
