Professor Mary L. Barron
Mary Lee Barron is a wife, mother of 3, and an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Additionally, she is the founder and Director, Marquette Fertility Education offering direct patient care services and research in Fertility Health Knowledge and Natural Family Planning. Her clinical nursing experience has focused on obstetrics and gynecology in a variety of settings. She served in the US Naval Reserve (1975-89) where she advanced to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Dr. Barron’s most recent research is directed at Fertility Health Knowledge. has published >20 peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous textbook chapters, authored the March of Dimes module on Antepartum Care and Laboratory Examination since 1998. She has co-authored Guidelines for Nurse Practitioners in Ambulatory Obstetric Settings which won an American Journal of Nursing (AJN) Book of the Year Award in the Advanced Practice Nursing category (2018). Her most recent research interest is in Fertility Health Promotion.
