Theun de Groot, PhD

Dr. de Groot is a molecular biologist at the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Canisius Wilhelmina Ziekenhuis, the Netherlands. He earned his Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Radbound University Nujmegen, the Netherlands. He obtained his PhD at Radboudumn, the Netherlands, writing his thesis on “A terminal view at the epithelial Ca2+ channel TRPV5.”  Dr. de Groot did his first Postdoc working on Lithium-induced Naphrogenic Diabetes Insipidus from susceptibility to cause.  He then moved to Bar Harbor Maine to work on a second Postdoc on a project towards gene identification and personalized prophylactic medication for lithiopathies in lithium-using patients.  He then moved back to the Netherlands to work on a project Preventing lithium-induced renal disease; from etiology to treatment. He is the author of over 20 publications, the most recent being Microsatellite stability in STR analysis Aspergillus fumigatus depends on number of repeat units.
