Weight loss and lifestyle changes in women of reproductive age

Grand rounds is held monthly for health care professionals as part of RRM's Educational Webinar Series. Presentations aim to improve the clinician's foundational knowledge as well as highlight and encourage research and new methods in the area of Restorative Reproductive Medicine. These sessions should enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of healthcare delivery, and in turn lead to improved patient outcomes.

Sara Simonsen, PhD

 

 

Dr. Sara Simonsen is an Associate Professor and the Annette Poulson Cumming Presidential Endowed Chair in Women’s & Reproductive Health at the University of Utah College of Nursing.  She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Simonsen’s background in public health and nurse midwifery has influenced her research focus on preventive women’s health, with specific emphasis on promoting health behavior change among reproductive-age women and approaches to help women space pregnancies and optimize preconception and interconception health.  Dr. Simonsen teaches doctoral students in the College of Nursing and mentors undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in research and quality improvement projects.  She lives in Midway, Utah with her 2 daughters and husband, and enjoys spending time in Utah’s beautiful mountains.
