Position Statement on Different Methods of Restorative Reproductive Medicine and Fertility Tracking

The International Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine (IIRRM) serves clinicians, educators, researchers, and advocates who share a strong commitment that women and couples deserve health care services that cooperate with and restore reproductive function, the field of medicine known as Restorative Reproductive Medicine (RRM).  A key component of RRM is to give women and couples the tools and education to track biomarkers of the woman's fertility cycle. The information from cycle tracking informs medical investigations and treatments to restore or optimize normal reproductive function. RRM, by definition, must be based on good science, which is always a work in progress.

Three major objectives of the IIRRM are to promote research in Restorative Reproductive Medicine, both medical and surgical; to present new research to the RRM community for critical analysis; and to disseminate vetted information to those who could implement it for the benefit of women and couples.

There are many methods for cycle tracking and several systems for RRM. A few are already well-established with a significant body of research, and others are new, with research in progress. There will be more approaches and refinements developed in the future. We do not endorse one method over another, but believe that the best possible evidence should be generated and published to allow women, couples, and clinicians to choose which they will use in each situation.

We deeply appreciate the innovation, research, sacrifices and applications of the relatively few dedicated clinicians, teachers, and scientists that have formed the foundations of RRM. We further believe that clinicians, teachers, and researchers of all methods can learn from each other to better serve their patients. Scientists and providers will sometimes disagree or have divergent perspectives. This is part of a healthy discussion that allows us to learn from each other. We encourage all who are dedicated to the principles of RRM in practice and/or research to join in our webinars and educational meetings.  We all benefit from a diverse and vigorous dialogue. We strongly believe that mutual respect, communication, and collaboration will strengthen our ability to transform reproductive medicine and the culture around us, for the benefit of women, couples and families worldwide.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
